As a sketch artist, Khan’s creations breathe life into paper, capturing nuanced expressions and emotions with finesse. His expertise spans the entire spectrum of art, from the subtleties of charcoal sketching to the vibrant world of oil and watercolor painting.
Journey of Hard Work and Perseverance
Mohammed Kashif Khan is a prolific calligrapher and artist who has played a significant role in promoting Islamic calligraphy as an art form in Karachi, Pakistan. He is known for his masterful skills in both calligraphic and non-calligraphic art, using various mediums to create stunning and intricate pieces. Kashif Khan began his artistic journey as a watercolourist, training under renowned artists Abdul Hayee and Ustaad Rustam. He then delved deeper into the world of calligraphy, studying under Ustaad Abdul Rauf Dehlavi, a pupil of the legendary Ustaad Yousuf Dehlavi, the creator of the Dehli Nastaliq script and the scribe who inscribed all the currency of Pakistan during 1952-1977. He also received training in Thuluth script under Ustaad Ahmed Madni. Kashif Khan has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions, showcasing his diverse calligraphic and non-calligraphic works. Kashif Khan is passionate about teaching and promoting Islamic arts. He has introduced and continues to teach Islamic calligraphy at leading art institutions in Karachi, including the Department of Visual Studies at the University of Karachi, the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture, and the Central Institute of Arts and Crafts, where he currently heads the program.
